We say soon, but we really mean sometime this year. After 20 years of enjoying lovely views of Otago Harbour from our rambling cliffside, half-acre garden, we've decided to build a guest studio onsite using passive house and green principles with friends, family and the independent, ethical traveller in mind. Maybe you're looking forward to a break from the road on your trip around New Zealand's breathtaking South Island. You might even be a local wanting some away-from-it-all time. Historic Port Chalmers sits right in the belly of beautiful Otago Harbour, ten minutes drive from Dunedin city and within easy reach of the increasingly renowned local walks and natural attractions. The Idlehouse will live up to its name, offering peace, seclusion, views and creature comforts with access to an eclectic park-like garden and a range of outdoor amenities. We value privacy, so while we live next door and will be on hand to offer local knowledge and support, we specialise in minding our own business and letting you get on with yours.
